Where are you located?
Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church is located at 3016 Lanier Dr., NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319. We are one block off Peachtree Road behind Oglethorpe University at the corner of Lanier Drive and Woodrow Way. Our main entrance is found via the parking lot behind the church. If you need more detailed directions, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 404-233-5469.
Where should I park?
The upper lot (off Lanier Drive) provides the easiest access to our main entrance. We have reserved spots for first-time visitors next to the playground. Those who have trouble walking will want to park in the designated spaces in our upper lot. We also have parking spots available in the lower lot.
How do I get in?
Most people enter the church building through the double glass doors from the upper parking lot. On Sunday mornings, greeters can answer any questions you might have. On other days, press the doorbell to the left of the door and someone will let you inside. Those who have trouble walking far or managing stairs will want to follow the ADA signs and enter through the sanctuary’s rear entrance from the parking lot closer to Lanier Drive.
Where is the church office?
From the main entrance, the church office will be on your left. During office hours (Monday-Thursday, 9am-2pm) our office manager will be present to assist you further.
Where is the preschool office?
From the entrance, go down the stairway to your right, take your first right, then an immediate left onto the preschool hallway. The office will be halfway down on your right.
Where do I go on Sunday morning?
The sanctuary is down the small flight of stairs to the right. The adult Present Word Sunday school class and restrooms are to the left of the entrance. The adult Wired Word Sunday school class, children’s Sunday school classrooms, nursery, and child-friendly restrooms are to the right of the entrance, down the steps and down the hallway to your right. If you have trouble finding what you need, ask a greeter, and they will point you in the right direction.
What should I wear on Sunday morning?
Wear what makes you feel comfortable and will allow you to enjoy the worship service, whether that be business casual or jeans. You will be welcome no matter how you dress!
Do you offer Sunday School?
We offer Christian Education classes for all ages, starting at 9:45 am. For more information, visit our Education page (hyperlink).
What do I do with my children during the service?
Some families choose to have their children sit in worship with them. Children are also welcome in our play area at the back of the sanctuary. This play area features children’s books and portable desks with crayons that can be taken anywhere in the sanctuary. Our nursery is always available but never required. Our nursery is staffed each Sunday by a child care professional and at least one OPC volunteer. All who work with children abide by our child protection policy. Children in the nursery are brought into the sanctuary for the Time with Young Disciples. Some families have their children stay for part of the worship service and then transition to the nursery after the Time for Young Disciples. What is most important is that you do what helps your family worship God.
What is the worship service like?
Our worship service begins 11am and typically lasts an hour. As you enter the sanctuary, an usher will give you a bulletin outlining the order of worship. We also project our worship information if you would prefer to follow along on the screen. Our ushers and greeters are happy to answer any questions you might have about the worship service.
