Our Life Together

Processional / Wolcum Yole!

*Call to Worship
Prepare a Place

*Lighting of the Advent Candle
One: Christians, come let us walk in the Light of the Lord.
All: Let us prepare the way by loving one another!

*Opening Hymn #9 PH (Veni Emmanuel)
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

Prayer of Confession
All: Most holy God, we light the candle of love this day, knowing that our words and actions aren’t always loving. We are blessed with life, breath, family, and friends, and yet all too often we grumble and complain. We act in less-than-loving ways as we go about our lives. We fail to show love to those around us, and we fail to acknowledge your love for us. We spend too much time checking things off our lists and not enough time preparing our hearts and minds for your coming during this season of Advent. Forgive us for our misplaced priorities, and ready us for your coming. Help us to walk in the light of your love, to celebrate your coming with joy, to live into your peace, and to reflect the hope of your promises, today and always. In the name of the Prince of Peace for whom the world waits… (silent confession)

*Hymn #36 PH (Cranham)
In the Bleak Midwinter (verses 1-2, alt.)

In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan, earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow, in the bleak midwinter, long ago.
Our Lord, heav’n cannot hold him, nor earth sustain,
Heav’n and earth shall flee away when he comes to reign.
In the bleak midwinter a stable will suffice
The Lord God incarnate, Jesus Christ.

*Sending Hymn #2092 SF (Stille Nacht)
Like a Child (alt.)
Like a child love would send to reveal and to mend,
Like a child we may find claiming heart, soul, and mind,
Like a child, Jesus comes; like a child, Jesus comes.
Like a child we will meet, ragged clothes, dirty feet,

Like a child we once knew coming back into view,
Like a child, Jesus comes; like a child, Jesus comes.
Like a child born to pray and to show us the way,
Like a child we receive all that love can conceive,
Like a child, Jesus comes; like a child, Jesus comes.
