On Sunday, August 1 we welcome our interim pastor Jihyun Oh to OPC. Jihyun was the unanimous choice of your Interim Pastor Nominating Committee, and their recommenda- tion was enthusiastically agreed to by the Session on July 17.
Jihyun (pronounced GEE hun) joins us after serving a year as interim pastor at Hamilton Mill Pres-
byterian Church, near Braselton, GA. Before that she was Staff Chaplain at Grady Memorial Hospital. Jihyun has served other churches in the Atlanta area as well as in Chicago and Florida. Some of you may recall meeting Jihyun when she was a guest preacher here at Oglethorpe Presbyterian in 2014.
According to Interim Pastor Nominating Committee (IPNC) members Steve Allison, Charles Hawthorne, “We were looking for an interim pastor who will serve with energy and vitality, keeping worship and programming going, guiding us through the search process, and setting the stage for the next pastor. We believe the Holy Spirit brought Jihyun and OPC together and look forward to our time together with great anticipation.” Jihyun was born in Seoul, South Korea and grew up in Lenexa, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, KS.
She has a Masters of Divinity from Columbia Theological Semi- nary and hopes to complete her DMin. at Columbia Seminary in 2017. She holds BS degrees in Biology and German Studies, with a minor in Chemistry, from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She also has a Masters in Finance from Florida International University.
Jihyun’s first Sunday with OPC will be August 7. Please pray for Jihyun and Oglethorpe Presbyterian as we start our time to- gether. And please come to worship on August 7 (at 11 AM) and give Jihyun a warm OPC welcome.
Join us in a time of fellowship in the narthex following worship August 7 and 14 to meet Jihyun and welcome her to OPC.
